Steven Lamy
Vice Dean
USC College of Letters, Arts & Sciences
Steven Lamy always puts his students first. The international relations professor consistently garners high praise from students who talk about his ability to make a 300-person class feel intimate.
Lamy's love of teaching has not gone unnoticed: He is a four-time USC Professor of the Year and one of the first winners of USC's Teaching Has No Boundaries award.
Outside the classroom, Lamy works to improve his and others' teaching skills. He founded the Teaching International Relations Program, which places USC International Relations majors in local public high schools to encourage understanding of international affairs. He was the director of USC's Center for Excellence in Teaching and its Center for Public Education in International Affairs, and is currently the director of USC's School of International Relations.
Lamy specializes in foreign policy analysis of U.S.-European Union relations, Western advanced industrial states, and the development and teaching of international relations curricula. He has published more than 30 articles and chapters in his areas of expertise; recently he co-authored "International Relations for the Twenty-First Century: A Rough Guide for Participants in Global Communities," published in October 2002.
