"Yell at the book, talk to the book, throw the book. A book is like a pair of shoes. It can't be your favorite until you break it in and make it your own." This is the advice of Hilary Schor, professor of English and gender studies, to her students.
Schor is a long-time instructor in USC's popular but rigorous Thematic Option program, the university's general education honors program. Her research centers on contemporary fiction, feminist theory, film and popular culture, and law and literature. She is the author of a study of Charles Dickens, titled "The Habit of Disruption: Hidden Female Narratives in the Fiction of Charles Dickens."
