Endowment Policy; Toward Century II Fund; Unrestricted Funds

Motion on Endowment Policy: A large and healthy endowment provides a university with financial stability and the flexibility to meet changing future needs. The Senate recognizes the desirability of increasing the endowment and commends the AToward Century II@ fund drive for including a sizable portion for endowment increases. Over the past several years, however, the endowment has also been increased by transfer of unrestricted funds into endowment. The Senate recommends that the Administration and Board of Trustees adopt a policy which, in the future, recommends against non-mandatory transfers of unrestricted funds into endowment.
