AAUP Tenure Standards; Fixed-Term Contracts

Whereas: The faculty Senate has repeatedly rejected proposals to establish Afixed-term renewable contracts@ for tenured or tenure-eligible faculty on the grounds that such contracts violate AAUP Tenure Standards and announced university policy; and Whereas: The USC administration has granted such a contract to a tenured member of the faculty in the School of Business Administration; I move that: The appropriate Senate committee be instructed to investigate this matter and report back to the Senate its recommendations regarding appropriate steps that can be taken to correct this apparent violation of the University and AAUP Tenure Standards and to prevent future violations from occurring.
