Faculty Handbook; Probationary Period

A resolution for the purpose of having a uniform and consistent interpretations of policy with regards to the crediting of prior service at other institutions towards the probationary period for faculty tenure as currently stated in the Faculty Handbook. This includes: prior service which counts towards probationary period must be as a regular full-time faculty member; mutual agreement between the faculty member and the administration arrived at and put in writing prior to commitment of faculty duties; probationary period can be extended only by mutual agreement between the faculty member and the administration under specific conditions; and, that any proposed exceptions to this policy are to be referred to the Special Committee on Promotion and Tenure Policy.
