Faculty Handbook; Grievance Procedures

 

A resolution to change elements of the grievance procedure of the Faculty Handbook. It states in part: AJudicial Phase. If, at any point in the mediation process, the grievant decides that he/she wishes mediation to be suspended and a judicial hearing held, he/she shall request the Senate Committee on Faculty Rights and Responsibilities to the forward the grievance to the President and to the University Panel on Faculty Tenure and Privileges Appeals. The Senate committee with then promptly forward the grievance to the President and to the University Appeals Panel together with a report that mediation has not been successful; the President may intervene to resolve the case at any time prior to the hearing.@ The resolution goes on to define the overall membership of the Appeals Panel and the rights of the grievant to seek additional membership on the Appeals Panel.
