Resolution 79-80-01
Cost of Living; Faculty Salaries; Merit
Pay
A resolution intended to
address the fact that, Athe productivity of the USC faculty has increased
substantially in the last five years while its real income has suffered grievously@ by setting a minimum goal of maintaining existing
salaries in real dollars, that funds for the maintenance salary structure will
be equal to the rate of increase of the Long Beach/Los Angeles consumer price
index of the current year, that should maintenance funds not be available, Aany amount less would be called a salary decrease,@ that the highest over-arching priority for the
university would be a real salary increase after existing expenses are met,
and, Aan attempt will be made to have all major components
of the university, e.g., faculty, students, deans, staff, and administrators, not
request new funds for additional purpose[s] or to augment any existing programs
until the minimal maintenance salary needs are met, and a real merit increase is
provided.@
