A resolution asking that a
statement on faculty teaching responsibilities be
inserted into the Faculty Handbook. It states, in part, that, Ateachers are responsible for providing as much of the
following information to their students as possible, either orally, or in
writing, prior to the end of the first week of classes: general goals and
objectives, course schedule, required and recommended readings, research
paper/project design and style, scheduled examinations, non-scheduled testing,
methods and criteria for evaluation and grading, and teacher=s office hours and telephone number(s) or other means
by which students may contact an instructor outside of class.@ It also states that faculty will provide performance
evaluations to students, that teachers are responsible
for meeting all scheduled class sessions, and that teachers or a designate
should either attend all guest lectures or obtain a lecture outline.
