Resolution 79-80-24
Cost of Living; Faculty Salaries;
Merit Pay
Whereas: In Faculty
Senate Resolution 79-80-1, the second sentence of paragraph 3 reads: AThe Faculty Senate recommends that no faculty member
participate in a committee which allocates real salary decreases on any basis
other than a uniform percentage to each faculty member.@ Therefore: Since it seems likely that a real salary
decrease will occur once again this year, faculty members are urged not to make
differential merit ratings that are to be used for differential salary
allocations. The spirit of the Senate=s resolution can be fulfilled by finding that all
faculty members have at least sufficient merit (with a few possible exceptions)
to participate equally in any salary allocation that is below the Consumer
Price Index. All have equal merit at this reduced level.
