Academic Programs; University Budget

Whereas: The Faculty has primary interest in the financial future of the University and of specific academic programs within the University and Whereas: the 1979 and 1980 reports of the Resource Management and Planning Committee recommend the establishment of a Budget Adjustment Program Therefore Be It Resolved: an Ad Hoc Committee of the Faculty Senate, to be called the Budget Adjustment Guidelines Committee, be created which will establish guidelines for making budgetary adjustment decisions. In developing guidelines for use in deciding which teaching and research programs are to be curtailed, financial considerations should not be allowed to obscure the fact that instruction and research constitute the essential reason for the existence of the university.
