Resolution 79-80-32

AAUP; Children=s Hospital of Los Angeles; Financial Exigency

The Faculty Senate views the serious financial difficulties at the Children=s Hospital of Los Angeles, an affiliated institution, with great concern. The Faculty Senate urges that: (1) All levels of the university administration and the Governing Board of Children=s Hospital of Los Angeles adhere to all procedures, safeguards, and severance policies outlined in the 1977 edition of the AAUP Policy Documents and Reports concerning financial exigency. (2) All levels of the university administration and especially the central administration, search to identify funds to support the severance pay minimum delineated under financial exigency circumstances in the AAUP documents cited above. (3) All levels of the university administration search diligently to find alternative positions for those faculty persons affected by exigency terminations and otherwise assist and aid faculty so effected in finding alternative employment.
