Resolution 80-81-06

AAUP; Pension Plan; Retirement; TIAA/CREF

Whereas: Parts of the University Administration are considering a supplemental pension plan which would not be vested immediately, the Senate Environment Committee requests a position from the Faculty Senate on this issue. The AAUP=s position [AAUP Redbook: Policy Documents and Reports, 1977 Edition; Statement of Principles on Academic Retirement and Insurance Plans, pages 89-90] is that pension funds for faculty should be immediately vested. Therefore, I Move: The position of the Faculty Senate is that any supplemental pension plan in addition to TIAA-CREF for faculty be immediately vested.
