Cost of Living; Faculty Salaries; Merit
Pay
I Move That: (1) The
President of the University or his representative shall, after consultation
with the Faculty Senate, each year establish a minimum salary adjustment factor
for continuing faculty with satisfactory service, which shall approximate as
closely as possible, the actual increase in the cost of living of L.A./L.B.
fort he most recent calendar year. The salary adjustment factor may, but not
need be, different for different broad categories of faculty. A faculty member
receiving less than the established minimum adjustment shall be provided with a
written statement detailing the particular deficiencies in his or her
performance. (2) Salary adjustments beyond the established minimum for
satisfactory service shall be deemed Amerit increases.@ (3) Merit increases shall be apportioned upon the
advice of properly constituted faculty
committees, and shall be based on performance in teaching, scholarship and
university service, according to the standards of the discipline and school in
which the appointment is held, for individuals of similar rank and salary.
