Resolution 82-83-10

Faculty Participation; Salary Increases

Motion: It has been observed that much of the decision-making policy, including the definition of a Afaculty salary increase pool@ takes place at the level of the deans. There is no university-wide mechanism for faculty input into these decisions. Therefore Be It Resolved: That each dean should have a Salary Budget Advisory Committee, consisting primarily of faculty. This committee would review policy and advise the dean on decisions concerning the amount of faculty salary increase pool that is to be available each year, and on other salary decisions that would affect this pool, including the generation and allocation of gifts and special funds and including changes in the number and level of positions. The Committee shall include department chairs and at least two elected Senators from that school, who are not chairs, and its membership will be made public.
