Academic Freedom; Charles Curran
A
resolution in response to relieve Professor Charles Curran of his teaching
duties at the Catholic University of America stating Athat the Faculty Senate, representing the faculty of
the University of
Southern California,
condemns the blatant and flagrant violation of Professor Curran=s academic and intellectual freedom. We express our full solidarity with and support for
Professor Curran in his efforts to defend these freedoms upon which all
scholarly communities are based....@ Copies of the resolution were to be sent to
Professor Curran, William Byron, President of the Catholic University of
America, Archbishop James Hickey, Chancellor of Catholic University, and Aall appropriate news media in both Washington, D.C.
and Los Angeles.@
