Resolution 88-89-08

Academic Unit Budgets; Faculty Participation; Governance

Whereas: The clarity of academic goals is of joint benefit to both administration and faculty in each unit, and Whereas: faculty representatives should participate in the unit budget planning process, Be It Resolved That a proposal for an update of the Academic plan of each academic unit shall be presented to the entire faculty of each unit at the start of every Academic year for their timely and proper assessment of its academic direction and goals. This Academic Plan update, as appropriately reviewed and recommended by the faculty of that unit, should serve as a guideline for the unit=s administration and the University when developing the annual fiscal plan implementing such academic goals. Any proposed substantive deviation from this annual Academic Plan update, and any modifications thereof, whether for academic, fiscal and/or other reasons, must be reported to the faculty of the academic unit, including the rationale for the alteration.
