Resolution 90-91-01

Whereas a series of tragic events have recently transpired in the Gulf region, and Whereas these events have had a serious negative impact on the lives of Kuwaiti nationals, Iraqui [sic] nationals, and citizens of other states, including the United States, resident in the Gulf region, and Whereas these events also had a serious impact on USC students in these several categories, in the sense that the events have significantly increased the level of personal stress on these students and in the sense that some yet undermined number of these students have been deprived of their regular means of financial support, and Whereas it is important to keep open channels of communication and to continue the discussion of these issues within the University and the larger community, Therefore, be it resolved that the Faculty Senate urges the University, through its appropriate campus officers, to provide every possible support to the individuals so affected by these events, and further urges the University, through its contacts with federal agencies and other bodies to undertake appropriate steps to insure the safety and well-being of the individuals so affected.
