Resolution 90-91-01
Whereas a series of
tragic events have recently transpired in the Gulf region, and Whereas these
events have had a serious negative impact on the lives of Kuwaiti nationals, Iraqui [sic]
nationals, and citizens of other states, including the United States, resident
in the Gulf region, and Whereas these events also had a serious impact on USC
students in these several categories, in the sense that the events have
significantly increased the level of personal stress on these students and in
the sense that some yet undermined number of these students have been deprived
of their regular means of financial support, and Whereas it is important to
keep open channels of communication and to continue the discussion of these
issues within the University and the larger community, Therefore, be it
resolved that the Faculty Senate urges the University, through its appropriate
campus officers, to provide every possible support to the individuals so
affected by these events, and further urges the University, through its
contacts with federal agencies and other bodies to undertake appropriate steps
to insure the safety and well-being of the individuals so affected.
