Resolution 90-91-22
Housing Assistance; Salary Compression
Whereas the expensive
housing costs in Los Angeles are sometimes cited as a reason for setting the
salaries of new hires above those of existing faculty, thus making it difficult
to achieve equitable salary scales, Therefore Be It Resolved that, on a
university-wide basis, housing assistance from the university should be
separated from base salary, and, Be It Further Resolved that on a
university-wide basis, the program to provide housing assistance should be
separated from the regular compensation pool, and, Be It Further Resolved that
salaries of new and continuing faculty should be set so as to avoid inequities,
particularly salary compression and inversion.
