Discontinuing Academic Units; President Sample

A resolution reaffirming the Faculty Senate=s approval and support of Resolution 90-91-08: Statement of Policies and Procedures on Bona Fide, Formal Discontinuance of Academic Units Not Mandated By Financial Exigency. The resolution states any recommendations to discontinue a unit Amust have been endorsed by a committee that has proper faculty representation, including representatives from the academic unit affected,@and notes that Ain the event that a report may be originated from any committee that does not meet the above conditions, the report will be considered purely advisory and preliminary, and before it is considered by the administration of the university, the report must be reviewed by a committee constituted according to this principle.@ The resolution urges President Sample to adhere to this principle.
