Hate Crimes; President Sample
Whereas, A hate crime
involving anti-Islamic slogans has recently occurred on campus, targeted
against members of the Engineering faculty, Senate Resolution 91/92-09
denounced bigotry at USC, and endorsed President Sample=s open letter against intolerance, and The 1991
Faculty Senate Retreat issued a thoughtful report on Increasing Pluralism in
the USC Community. Be It Resolved That The Faculty
Senate Reiterates its condemnation of all hate crimes and bigotry. Especially
in the academic environment, people of all backgrounds and points of view must
be free to participate without harassment. We form a single academic community
within which we must show one another respect. Endorses the principles of the
Faculty Senate Retreat Report on Increasing Pluralism in the USC Community, and
commends the report to the attention of President Sample.
