Resolution 91-92-23

Hate Crimes; President Sample

Whereas, A hate crime involving anti-Islamic slogans has recently occurred on campus, targeted against members of the Engineering faculty, Senate Resolution 91/92-09 denounced bigotry at USC, and endorsed President Sample=s open letter against intolerance, and The 1991 Faculty Senate Retreat issued a thoughtful report on Increasing Pluralism in the USC Community. Be It Resolved That The Faculty Senate Reiterates its condemnation of all hate crimes and bigotry. Especially in the academic environment, people of all backgrounds and points of view must be free to participate without harassment. We form a single academic community within which we must show one another respect. Endorses the principles of the Faculty Senate Retreat Report on Increasing Pluralism in the USC Community, and commends the report to the attention of President Sample.
