Discrimination; President Sample; Sexual Orientation

 

Whereas, Intolerance against anyone because of sexual orientation is repugnant, Such intolerance is inconsistent with the USC policy know [sic] as the Principles of Community, to President Sample=s Open Letter, and to the principles stated in USC=s employment application form, The non-discrimination policies of most of America=s leading universities mention sexual orientation specifically, The California legislature has recently adopted, and Governor Wilson has signed, a law prohibiting employment discrimination based on sexual orientation (though USC is exempt from the statute as a non-profit organization), Resolved The Faculty Senate respectfully recommends that the University=s official policy on discrimination be amended to mention sexual orientation specifically.
