Three prominent faculty members have been recruited from the University of California system. William Vega of UCLA has been appointed Provost Professor (Social Work and Keck School of Medicine) and Executive Director of USC’s Edward R. Roybal Institute on Aging. To inaugurate this appointment and new directions for the Institute, Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi will speak at the Roybal Institute sometime in February.

Mathew McCubbins of UCSD joined USC in January as Provost Professor (Marshall School of Business, Gould School of Law, and USC College). At USC he will spearhead an effort to create an innovative Ph.D. program that involves political economy, economics, law, and cognitive and computational science.

Dorit Simona Hochbaum of Berkeley will join USC as the inaugural holder of the Epstein Family Chair in the Daniel Epstein Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering in the Viterbi School of Engineering. She is particularly known for her work in computer optimization and supply chain management..
