Procedure:
1. A motion should
be typed or hand-printed.
2. A motion
should first be offered to the Executive Board for review and advice on editing
and parliamentary implications.
3. If
changes are necessary, the motion should be recopied on another form.
Amendments may be indicated in the margin or on the reverse of this form.
WHEREAS, a recent Senate White Paper on “Assessing the Impacts of
‘9/11’ on our Academic Community” raised a host of issues related to emergency
response preparation; and
WHEREAS, the University’s
central administration does have an emergency response plan in place; and
WHEREAS, Deans and other
senior administrators of academic units across campus are already expected to
participate in the preparation of emergency response plans; and
WHEREAS, faculty are often
the first point of contact that students have with responsible authority
figures in the event of an emergency; and
BE IT RESOLVED
THAT, the Academic Senate strongly urges its constituent Faculty Councils to
seek pro-active and meaningful participation in the preparation and updating of
emergency response plans compiled by their respective academic units.
