the Executive Board for review and advice on editing and parliamentary
implications.
3. If changes are necessary, the
motion should be recopied on another form.
Amendments may be indicated in the margin or on the reverse of this

Courseware Policy
WHEREAS, USC currently has an Intellectual Property Policy and a
ISD Copyright Policy, guidelines and procedure in the Faculty Handbook and in
the Faculty Contract defining faculty rights and responsibility regarding
Intellectual Property creation, ownership and dissemination;
WHEREAS, the Academic Senate and the Office of the Provost working
together through the Distributed Education and Distance Learning Committee have
incorporated these principles in a policy clarification document entitled
University of Southern California Courseware Policy (15 April 2003);
WHEREAS, this clarified policy incorporates all existing policies
and procedures related to Courseware at USC into a single cohesive statement;
WHEREAS, this clarified Courseware policy creates no new policies
or procedures;
BE IT RESOLVED THAT, the Senate endorses the principles
outlined in the Courseware Policy of 15 April 2003. (Attached)
