Faculty Mentoring
Every faculty member at the University has the duty and responsibility to assist less-experienced colleagues. Such mentoring on both teaching and scholarship is imperative. Encouragement, advice, and assistance from more senior collegues can be invaluable in aiding a newer faculty member to succeed. It is the responsibility of senior faculty members to take the initiative in assisting more junior colleagues in their teaching, research, and service.
It is therefore moved that, no faculty member shall be subject to any liability for advice given to another faculty member during this mentoring process. However, nothing in this policy limits the liability of faculty members who violate laws and other University policies, such as those prohibiting sexual harassment.
