Musician Robert Winter closes the College of Letters, Arts, & Sciences four-part series "Art as Social Commentary."

Scholar/pianist/multimedia artist Robert Winter has authored, co-authored, or edited four major books on Beethoven, as well as a large number of articles on compositional process and performance practice. He has lectured and performed all over the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan and Europe, and is known for several nationally broadcast live music series on American Public Radio, as well as for pioneering work in the application of interactive multimedia to music and the digital arts.

Winter is the recipient of numerous awards and prizes, including a 1983 Guggenheim Fellowship Award. In 1996 he was appointed by UCLA to the Presidential Chair in Music and Interactive Arts.
