The Dayton Contemporary Dance Co., the oldest modern dance company in Ohio and one of the largest companies of its kind between Chicago and New York City, performs with the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.

Founded in 1968, DCDC has earned an international reputation for its artistic endeavors. For 25 years, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band has boldly forged the traditions of New Orleans jazz with the modern influences of bebop, funk, R&B and pop, creating a new standard by which all other brass bands are measured.

Shaped by the rich culture of New Orleans, When the Spirit Moves consists of vignettes celebrating the lineage and essence from which these two uniquely American forms of contemporary art emerged.
