Renowned pianist, composer, bandleader and educator Jesus "Chucho" Valdes offers the latest gem of his seemingly inexhaustible musical talent.

Valdes' innovative gift for combining Cuban, Caribbean and American musical forms here extends to his creative writing for saxophone great Joe Lovano. Grounded in straight ahead American jazz and energized by intricate superimpositions of Clave in a swinging Afro-Cuban style, a new composition, commissioned by a consortium of California presenting organizations, is being presented by the Valdes group with guest Joe Lovano.
