USC Law School and the Real Property Section of the LA County Bar Association invite you to participate in the most valuable conference of the year for the real estate bar and business community.
Major practitioners and real estate industry experts address key legal and business issues facing this critical area of the economy now and in the future.
Up-to-the-minute information, strategies for dealing with major challenges, and face-to-face interaction with experts make this an important program for individuals seriously involved in real estate law or business in southern California.
Guest Keynote Speaker for this event is the Honorable Jerry Brown, Mayor of Oakland, California.
Brown, the former California governor and a serious presidential candidate in 1992, will discuss his vision for revitalizing Oakland's core. He was elected mayor of Oakland in June 1998, gaining 59 percent of the vote. In 2002, he was elected to a second term. Brown's central focus as mayor has been to revitalize the center of the city in a spirit of "elegant density."
Brown's luncheon keynote is part of the newly expanded symposium, which examines the real estate sector from a business as well as a legal perspective.
Besides Brown, other notable speakers include John C. Cushman, chairman of the Cushman & Wakefield; Alan I. Casden, chairman of Casden Properties; James A. Thomas, chairman of Thomas Properties Group; O'Malley Miller, lead counsel for Disney Hall and Cathedral of Our Lady of Angels; and George Lefcoe, professor of real estate law at USC.
The 2003 Institute on Real Estate Law and Business is one of the six major conferences and institutes produced by the Continuing Legal Education Program at USC Law School. The others focus on probate and trust, entertainment law, computers and the Internet, corporate counsel, and federal tax practice and policy. The CLE Program is crucial to the Law School's commitment to providing the finest continuing legal education available to the profession and the business community.
This program, open to the general public, is designed to be of primary interest to legal and business practitioners involved with the real estate industry.
