BROADWAY (Space-time Panopticon, 1868-2000)

The great central mercantile/mercado and entertainment corridor of the entire Los Angeles metropolis; a traffic volume as high as its namesake street in New York City. Broadway was originally Fort Street, but was renamed in the 1890s to replicate and compete with New York City. "Broadway" is such a pandemic signifer, in countless downtowns and metaphors, that it can be called a transhistoric site. Here I probe several panopticon points-of-view, all holding a reflexive conversation across time and space.
