Broadway and Seventh Street
The heart of the Central Business District and the leading entertainment district until the 1960s, the corner of Broadway and Seventh--with the highest traffic count of any intersection-- was the "center" of the metropolis for all classes and ethnicities. After the 1960s it remained a bustling "center," now mainly for the blue-collar immigrant population, predominantly Latino. Anglo/White, African American, and Asian "centers" became more dispersed.
