Mr. A.M. Drake House
Pasadena, California

The firm's design for Mr. A. M. Drake of Bend, Oregon was for a half-timbered house to be built in the Oak Knoll neighborhood. It resembled the 1905 Robinson house, with its plaster and half-timbering, but the English tradition was pursued more vigorously in the Drake design than at any time since the James Culbertson house of 1902. Remnants of the Greenes’ classic wooden style remained, too, including timber corbels bound with iron straps and wedges, and even the Chinese lift, which can be seen in the drawing of the lintel over the entry. Mr. Drake eventually chose another architect and the Greenes’ design was never built.
