OBJECTIVES: The Conference seeks to bring together engineers, scientists, architects, builders and others interested in the general field of active, hybrid and passive vibration control, health monitoring and damage detection, intelligent/smart mat erials and systems of buildings, civil infrastructures, and space structures.
OFFICIAL LANGUAGE: The official language of the Conference sessions and proceedings will be English.
SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM: The Conference will include (1) Keynote Lectures presented by world authorities in structural control and monitoring; (2) State-of-the-Art Reports prepared by well-known specialists in specific topics; (3) Oral Sessions consisti ng of conventional oral presentation and discussion of papers; (4) Poster Sessions in which authors use display boards to present their materials and the audience may communicate directly with them; and (5) Special Theme Sessions consisting of workshops t o discuss specific subjects arranged by Scientific bodies in cooperation with the Conference Steering Committee.
EXHIBITS: Commercial exhibits will be displayed at the Conference site simultaneously with the scientific sessions.
CALL FOR PAPERS: Paper and presentations are solicited on applications and research: completed, underway or planned, on topics relevant to the Conference. A 500-word or one-page abstract should be submitted by 15 October 1997 and accepted camera-ready papers should be submitted by 1 July 1998. Further details regarding the time schedule for preliminary acceptance of Abstract, submission of camera-ready papers, and final acceptance of Papers will be provided in the Second Announcement.
PROCEEDINGS: Papers accepted for the Conference will be published in the Conference Proceedings, which will serve as a permanent reference.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Information regarding the Conference fees, registration procedure, accommodations, exhibits, social events, guest program and conference tours will be included in future announcements. The Second Announcement is planned for the spring of 1997.
