Research Interests
I work on the mechanics of crustal deformation, particularly on convergent plate boundaries and in collisional orogens. Research methods include mechanical analysis of large-scale dynamic systems such as thrust belts and collisional plateaux, map-scale to microscale structural analysis, thermobarometry and geochronology to define pressure-temperature-time paths of rocks, paleomagnetism to determine the rotational history, and microstructural analysis of deformational mechanisms in rocks and their implications for rock rheology. I work in collaboration with scientists from many other disciplines, particularly geophysicists, petrologists, geochronologists, sedimentologists, and stratigraphers.
