| The destruction produced by the 1946 tsunami at Scotch Cap was absolute, as depicted by the photo above. The 100+ foot tsunami that struck the coast here washed away all but the very base of the lighthouse, a reinforced concrete structure! All five members of the lighthouse crew were killed. The tsunami eroded much of the cliff as well. | ||
