| A look at the bathymetry of Fatu Hiva
shows a large ridge extending from the south west corner of the
island. It seems that although the slide area faces away from
Omoa, strong refraction on this ridge caused the wavefont to stay
trapped along the shore and wrap into the bay at Omoa. |
