Electronic resources licensed by the Health Sciences Libraries and
the USC Libraries are available only to current USC faculty, staff, and students.
Most resources verify your USC affiliation through your IP address.
Check your IP address at http://www.whatismyip.com
to determine if you are connecting through a USC address. Anyone
with an address beginning with 128.125 or 68.181 should be able to connect to
USC resources directly without problems.
If you are located in one of the affiliated hospitals, at home,
in some other location away from the USC network or using USC wireless, the USCnet login page should appear when you click on any restricted resource.
Simply enter your USC computer account username and password to establish
yourself as a valid USC user. You should only need to do this once until
you close your browser window or unless you leave your computer idle
for more than 90 minutes.
Use the following information if you still have trouble accessing
any of the library's eResources. Select the appropriate user affiliation
below for further instructions.
Alumni
The licenses for the libraries' electronic resources restrict use to USC faculty, staff, and students only. Therefore, once you've graduated, you no longer have access to library electronic resources. However, the USC Libraries has made special arrangements for alumni to access one database, Proquest Research Library, which is a multi-disciplinary index covering dozens of subject areas and thousands of general and scholarly titles and provides full-text for a significant number of the articles included.
For further details, go to the USC Alumni Association web site.
Retirees
Although some faculty and staff who have retired from USC are qualified to retain their USC computer account, only faculty with emeritus status are eligible to continue to have access to library electronic information resources. See the Emeriti Center web site for specific eligibility criteria and for contact information. USC computer accounts are usually disabled once an employee is no longer in the payroll system, contact the Emeriti Center to continue your account.
