Quaker
Tracts
In 2003 while
inventorying books in Special Collections' general collections, we
came across a collection of 109 pamphlets bound together in a sixteen-volume
set. Published primarily in England between 1692 and 1828, these pamphlets
cover a wide variety of topics. While sermons and religious
ideas are the primary focus, issues of immediate importance to the
times, such as war and slavery, are also covered. Several of the
pamphlets are by or about women.
Previously scholars
could only find these pamphlets by searching for "quaker tracts" in
Homer, USC's online catalog. Below are links to guides to these pamphlets.
In addition Homer now includes
entries for each pamphlet individually, and a search for "quaker
tracts" will retrieve all sixteen volumes.
