    Typescript of Teilhet's (b.1904) novel The Happy Island (William Sloane, 1950).

    Letters, documents, testimony regarding Capt. John S. McMillin, his command of the Union steamer "Silver Wave" during the Civil War, and his steam capstan patent.
  • The Lens, the newsletter of the American Association of Social Workers, Los Angeles Chapter (0462)
    This small collection contains 19 issues (an incomplete run) of "The Lens", the newsletter of the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Association of Social Workers. The newsletters contain general information of interest to the chapter's members, including profiles of various Los Angeles social agencies and schools; brief announcements of lectures and other events of interest; essays on various social work topics; notes on activities of sister agencies; and lists of members. Beginning in 1936, the newsletter began to address more pressing concerns, such as legislation and its impact on the profession; the establishment of standards for the social work profession, etc.

    This collection primarily consists of twentieth century theater programs from New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, and London. However, it also includes nineteenth century prompt books, souvenir programs, and theater programs from the Midwest (especially Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota).

    The Aneita Tidball papers consist of correspondence, memorandums and reports, 1951-1956, created primarily by Aneita Tidball in the course of her duties for the United Community Defense Service.
  • Title XX, USC Training Series, Child Protective Services training materials (0451)
    The Title XX, USC Training Series, Child Protective Services training materials consists of the workbook and two cassette tapes of a Title XX training program, conducted at USC, on child protective services. Among others, Dr. John Milner and Dr. June Brown of the USC School of Social Work helped to develop this program, and it is they who speak on the tapes.
  • Tokyo War Crimes Tribunal Proceedings Transcripts (3258)
    The International Military Tribunal for the Far East (Tokyo War Crimes Trial) was conducted between April 29, 1946 and April 16, 1948, with the judgment delivered November 4-12, 1948. 28 Japanese former politicians, officials, and military leaders were put on trial. 419 witnesses appeared in person before the court, and an additional 779 submitted affidavits or depositions. The proceedings were divided into fifteen phases of the Prosecution's case and six divisions for the defence.   • Training Institute for Probation, Parole and Institutional Staff reports (0443)
    This collection consists of the "Report[s] of Fifth Annual Training Institute for Probation, Parole and Institutional Staff" held at the University of California, Berkeley, for the years 1953, 1954, 1956, 1957, 1958, and 1959. There is also a copy of the "Lectures of the Fourteenth Annual Training Institute for Probation, Parole and Institutional Staff" held at the University of California, Berkeley, in 1962. The University of California, Berkeley, Schools of Social Welfare and Criminology sponsored the annual institutes, in cooperation with such California state agencies as the California Youth Authority and with such private organizations as the California State Juvenile Officers Association.
  • Tranquada (Robert E.) Papers (0089)
    Professional files of Dr. Robert E. Tranquada during his tenure as Dean of USC School of Medicine (1986-91). Robert E. Tranquada graduated from Pomona College, summa cum laude, in 1951, received his M.D. degree from Stanford University School of Medicine in 1955, served as a Resident in Medicine from 1955-1958 and as a Fellow in Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases in 1958-1959 at UCLA Medical Center and as Fellow in Diabetes at the USC School of Medicine from 1959-1960. Dr. Tranquada's management responsibilities included service as Chairman of the USC Department of Community Medicine anad Public Health (1966-69), Associate Dean of the USC School of Medicine, and Medical Director of the Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center (1969-74), Regional Director of LA County Department of Health Services (1974-76), Associate Dean of UCLA School of Medicine (1976-79), Chancellor and Dean of U. of Massachusetts Medical Center (1979-86), Dean of USC School of Medicine (1986-91), and the Norman Topping/National Medical Enterprises Professor of Medicine and Public Policy from 1992 until his retirement in June 1997.
